GoldenArk's website in now in the process of converting all its DNL files to operate with both XP & VISTA. You will know that the conversion has already takes place when on the E-Book's 1st Page you see a banner stating that fact. In that case, our E-Books will work with EITHER of the Operating Systems!
MODEMS
For your convenience, GoldenArk has adopted the policy
of offering our downloadable E-Books with a choice of two Modem
speeds:
(1) FAST Modem Version: for
DSL (Broadband or Cable) modems.
This Version usually takes less than five Minutes to complete.
The E-Book, with all of the Media, is self-contained making it independent
of the Internet when opened on your computer. These E-Books are Multi-Media:
in addition to the printed Text, they also contain one or more of the following
Media elements: Illustrations, Music, Videos, General Audio Files,
and /or Audio Files with a dramatic Audio Reading of all or part of
the story.
(2) SLOW Modem Version: for (Dial-up slow
modems) All Text and illustrations (if any) are present, but ALL
OTHER MEDIA is striped from the E-Book in order to increase the download
speed. It also is completely self-contained.
Multi-Media DNL Files: A NEW Format Explained
DNL Files (.dnl} have many advantages over the Executable Files (.exe) that we have published in years past. EXE files give hackers an opportunity to play mischief with the files. That is why administrators of computer networks do not favor the downloading of EXE files. To work around that problem, GoldenArk has been using ZIP files that are usually permitted by computer networks.
DNL files for the publication of E-Books has proven to be a better solution since it resists hacking efforts. DNL files consist of data only rather than regular computer code. Security is maintained by the fact that the users who download DNL E-Books first download a very small Reader program just one time. It takes up very little space on the user's computer. After that, all future GoldenArk E-Books using DNL files can be read without having to download the reader again.

The extracted files

the Reader for the first time, the Icon will be a large blue circle with

E-Books. Since it is a one-time installation, you can delete the icon when
you are finished.
The Icon for the DNL
file that contains your E-Book is a white square with a small blue circle
in the center. Double-clicking it opens the E-Book, and you want to permanently
